General Mariano Alvarez Technical High School (GMATHS) faculty took part on the Department of Education (DepEd) Cavite’s five-day webinar training “G-Suite for Education” in preparation for the new normal in SY. 2020-2021 last May 18-22, 2020.
The webinar “DepEd Cavite: Keeping Abreast with the New Normal Through G Suite for Education” teaches different Google platforms that facilitate distance learning open to all public elementary and secondary teachers in the Division of Cavite.

351 teachers registered in the said training under the supervision of ICT Coordinator Ms. Riedessel N. Ambagan and recommendation of Principal IV Dr. Victorio N. Medrano.
In line with this, Schools Division Office (SDO) Cavite believes usage of G-Suite platforms for education is needed to face the inevitable challenge of teaching amidst COVID19.
Division IT Officer, Ms. Mignon Cecille M. Mangoba, on the first day, gave an overview of the G Suite platforms and discussed how to use “Google Drive.” Day two speaker Ms. Cecilia M. Caraan, National OER Advocate, talked about “Google Docs” and “Google Sheets.” Ms. Janice C. Noda, ICT coordinator of Maragondon National High School, had a “Google Sites” and “Google Form” tutorial on the third day. On last day, Director of Robotics PH Ms. Jennylou P. Riel, explained in detail the use of “Google Classroom” and “Google Calendar.”
“That’s where we are going,” Mr. Rommel C. Bautista, Schools Division Superintendent said as SDO Cavite has no other path to cross but to have the opening of classes on August 24 and end on April 30, 2021 successfully.

At the end of the training, participants were given two weeks to submit their outputs as an application of their learning.
